Playing the “if you had a pile of money to have a band play a party/wedding, who would it be?” game last night, Emily and I ran through a bunch of bands. This morning I realized the only correct answer is The Afghan Whigs. Looks like if I ever come into some oil money, I could realize my dream.

Also: “Hey Dog Collar Boy!”

22 years ago today, Husker Du played their final show at The Blue Note in Columbia, Missouri. It was on the Warehouse tour, Grant Hart was trying to kick his heroin addiction and lost or spilled his bottle of methadone and played the show “under less than ideal circumstances.” After the show Bob Mould cancelled the next two tour dates and that was the end. This mp3 of “Makes No Sense At All” is from the only available recording from that night, an incomplete and average-at-best recording. There’s also a zip with the whole show if you’re interested.
