Ira and James’s dance moves were one of (many) highlights from Matador at 21, which felt like indie rock summer camp (with booze and gambling!). Some other great moments: Mitch from GBV bum rushing the YLT stage during Blue Line Swinger and almost getting punched in the face by the security guy, Superchunk’s entire amazing set, Ted Leo accompanying Liz Phair on Fuck and Run with a tambourine, Sonic Youth’s deep back catalog setlist (so, so good), GBV’s weekend closing set with plenty of high kicks. It was a pretty surreal experience to be sitting in a mexican restaurant a table over from Jim Wilbur while MTV films DJ Pauly D shooting craps 30 yards away, riding up the elevator with Neko Case, seeing Pink Eye everywhere (does that guy ever sleep?), or even standing at The Clean show (There’s Mac! There’s Carl! There’s Georgia!)
